Read MoreCongregation of Carmelite Religious, are women consecrated to God, with Our Lady of Mt. Carmel as our Patroness. We are committed to the cause of education, in response to the charismatic inspiration of our foundress Mother Mary Theresa Veronica of the Passion.
It was on 16th July, 1868 that she founded the Apostolic Carmel - a Carmel for the Missions - in real poverty at Bayonne, France. It was here that she began moulding young girls into a Religious Order to work in India. She sought God's will in everything and exhorted them to be obedient and humble. She was a women of integrity, conscious of her rights and responsibilies. She gave her all for this selfless service. She passed into glory on 16th November, 1906.
The first batch of Sisters arrived in Manglore in 1870. It was from here that the Carmelites gradually spread to the Malabar Coast where there was need for Catholic education. By 1880 the Congregation took root at Holy Angels' Convent, Trivandrum, from where it has spread it branches in India and abroad.
Following in the footsteps of our Lord Jesus Christ and our foundress Mother Veronica, we impart fullness of life through our apostolate of education and social work. We reach out to all God's children especially girls, women and the marginalised. We strive to produce intellectually competent, morally upright, socially committed and spiritually inspired persons who are responsible and available for the greater service of the country and of the world.
Love is the motivating factor that characterizes all our actions. Genuine love is that which gives itself for the sake of others without any expectations or hidden motive. One is able to give oneself and feel happy for having touched and enriched someone else.
This is the result of all our actions. since all our actions stem from the deeper commitment and love for God, the actions are permeated by that divine love and therefore becomes service to humanity.
Service is an outcome of a selfless love and genuine concern for human needs.
Sacrifices are a meaningful way of life by which we are able to consider the needs of others around us. We sacrifice something so that some one else can have a better life. Sacrifice involves the giving oneself, and not merely giving from that “extra” of one’s abundance. Sacrifice means giving up for the sake of the others when it really hurts. It involves giving of one’s knowledge, wealth, and time and may be life when one perceives the need.
